Hi! I am Stephanie Raudsepp, artist, bookbinder, and stationery designer.
Welcome to my paper world!
Why bookbinding and stationery?
The historical significance of paper and books as means of communication and as democratic objects is fascinating to me. Mark-making is universal and inherently creative. Writing by hand helps me express myself, process ideas and experiences and is my version of meditation.
After dabbling in creative mediums throughout my life, in 2007 I made my first handbound book and fell headlong into the rich world of book and paper arts.
I’ve since worked in independent stationery and art shops; toured book arts centres and paper mills across North America, Europe and Tanzania; earned a BFA which led me to exhibit my handbound books in Montreal and Toronto; interviewed artists in-studio; and had my art and written work published. I also refined my bookbinding skills with Susan Mills in New York City, learned to make paper by hand in Toronto and worked for award-winning Papeterie St-Armand, in Montreal.
I launched my first online shop in 2016, inspired by blending traditional hand-binding techniques and modern stationery design, and featuring bold colour, natural textures, and locally-source and eco-friendly materials.
Since, my stationery and I have travelled to the One of a kind Show in Toronto, Pop-up shops in Eastern Canada, etc.
Products are currently available in stationery and museum shops across Canada.
All products are handbound in Montreal, Canada.
